Tim sleeping in his own bed ALL NIGHT!

So, my sister-in-law Heather gave me the best idea to keep Tim in his bed all night and it has now worked for over a week! She suggested that I offer to give Tim 3 pennies each morning when he has slept through the night in his own bed and not come in our room. He absolutely LOVES it! Every morning he wakes up so excited and comes running in our room asking for his 3 pennies.

After he did this for a week straight, I rewarded him with his 3 pennies like normal plus a nickle. Currently Tim is using my piggy bank until I can find a cheap plastic one for him to have. Any suggestions on where to find one? I strongly encourage this method if your child loves money like Tim does. He talks about it during the day and whenever we ask him what he'll get when he sleeps in his bed all night, he yells "Pennies, 1, 2, 3 Pennies!" By the way, Tim did a pretty good job sleeping in his bed all night but every 3-4 nights he would wake up and come in our room and want to sleep with us. We rarely let him in our bed and would just take him back to his room, but since we're still up with Allie 1-2 times each night, it was getting hard to be up with Tim also. Thanks Heather!!!

Oh man, I remember going through all that. We had a hard time getting Owen to stay in his room. Bribery wouldn't work for him...so we had to switch the locks around and lock him in his room. It worked pretty quickly.
Owen & Drake both are like stealth, and sneak into our room once in awhile. We will wake up in the morning and they'll be asleep in our bed. How'd you get there??

Mack is FINALLY sleeping through the night at 18mo. Not to discourage you....I think he's been teething ever since he was born! Cysts form on his gums because his teeth won't break through. I hope we are all done with that. :)
Way to go TIM!

Yeah, only some bribery works on Tim. We cannot bribe him to eat, it doesn't work! We do actually lock him in his room to go to sleep and then open the door once he's asleep so that he can come in our room if he does need us. Now that we've started giving him pennies though, he just stays in his room and cries if something is wrong. It works for us!

I hear you can get them at the dollar store at times and I've also had a friend see them at Ikea, but that isa bit out of the way.

It's so funny to see what kids are motivated by.

As for the piggy bank, maybe you could take him to a ceramic place and let him decorate his own, like how we did when we were kids! Remember my chicken pox piggy bank?! I loved that thing and I remember painting it too. Good memories!

Janelle-

I don't know if you want to start this when he's so young, but the piggy banks we have for our kids are plastic and (they aren't shaped like pigs though) and have a slot for tithing, a slot for mission, and a slot for fun money. They were about $8 at Deseret Book. That's what Kyara and Jaxon use. . . Ender isn't into money yet. I think that's great you found an easy way to motivate Timothy!

We just have to lock Ender in his room. . . . sad! But, it works!
