I have a story to share, so sit back and enjoy the craziness! The day before New Year's Eve my sister Liz offered me some free tickets to see the Nutcracker Ballet matinee at 2 PM in downtown SLC on New Year's Eve. Since Timmy really likes dancing I decided to go take him and he was really excited to go. The tickets were to be in will call under my name.
We left around 12:15 and I realized shortly after getting on the freeway that I had no cell phone, oh well, no biggie right? Wrong! I got downtown and we parked about 1.5 blocks away from the the theater and since the clock in Justin's car doesn't work I figured it was about 1 PM. Timmy was asleep so I carried him most of the way to the theater before he woke up and we went to will call to get my tickets. I told them my name, no tickets. I realized I had no phone to call my sister so after some prodding, I finally got a girl to exchange my twenty for some smaller bills and 4 quarters. I went to the pay phone and called my sister who didn't answer. I knew I could only make one more call so decided to see if I could find a free phone at a hotel nearby. I went to the hotel Monaco across and down a bit and they did have a phone they let me use while giving me the stink eye. I called Liz again, no answer. I tried calling Justin but our home number and his cell are long distance. I tried using my calling card to call Justin but it was canceled, what???? (I have had this calling card for about 12 years!!) Then I tried calling my mom who was on her lunch break and she didn't answer her phone, sheesh!
Well, I figured I couldn't use the phone anymore since they were irritated with me so I decided to try and find another phone. We trekked over to Shilo Inn, no phone. We walked over to the Hilton and they had phones but they just went to the hotel operator. They told me where some pay phones were so I walked over to them. I realized they had a credit card option so I tried it and it wouldn't work. Finally, I put in my last two quarters and dialed Liz and she answered! She told me the tickets were under my name, Janelle Griggs. Silly girl, I have been married for 6 years!
Anyway, we ran back to the ballet which was really crowded now and got in line at will call. They found my tickets and we went in. They told me to get in a long line to get a seat cushion for Tim but the lady who butt in front of me got the last one. We found our seats, 4th row back and to the left so not bad! Tim ended up sitting on my lap through most of the show and we really enjoyed it. It was the nutty nutcracker so they had lots of funny things but that I won't get into that today.
After the show we walked/ran back to the car and it was really cold! We get to the car and realize my key is not anywhere! Timmy starts crying because I won't let him in the car and he's so cold. We made it back to the theater and luckily they have had my key turned in. Timmy has to go to the bathroom (I could just tell) so we went into the bathroom. He refused to go and was screaming, lucky me! I finally told him he could go in his pullup and he does and we finally leave. We make it to the car to find that the passenger side door won't open with the key. Frustrated I go to the driver side and it finally opens and we get in and drive away from the craziest afternoon I have had in a long long long time!!!
By the way, the rest of the evening was just fine with pizza at my in-laws, Band Hero and fun hanging out with my family :)

Sounds like a frustrating day! Sheesh! I'm glad you could at least see the Nutcracker. . .and for free, that's great! My sister has been married for almost 9 years and I still address mail to her maiden name sometimes. . . old habits die hard!
Uggh! What a nightmare! At least Allison wasn't with you too. The other day I decided to take Chaise to a movie one afternoon by ourselves and she fell asleep not even 15 minutes into it! So here I sat watching "Where The Wild Things Are" all by myself holding my sleeping child!
