2010 Goals for January

Well, this month I think I did a pretty good job in following my goals even though I made them a few weeks into the month.

1. I have read half of the Ensign this month. I guess I could finish today? :)
2. I did not read the lessons to prepare for Sunday meetings but Justin and I talked about it today and we are planning on it this week.
3. Since I made my goal, I have exercised 5-6 times a week, usually 20-30 minutes.
4. I have done really well with tracking calories. I am actually really glad Justin got me an extra set of measuring cups this Christmas because I have needed them!
5. We have had FHE every Monday since making the goal.
6. We have had family prayer almost every day that we are home together.
7. We did attend the temple this month.
8. We have been on 3 dates this month, woo hoo!

Now on to February!

Friday Morning Weigh-in

This morning I weighed in at 144.0. This is down 1.4 pounds from last week which is great. However, yesterday I weighed in at 143.2 so it was quite the jump up from yesterday. So I'm a little bummed that I was in the 143's almost all week and then it jumped back up. I guess I had a hungry day yesterday. That's okay because it gives me more wiggle room for next week!

New haircut!

So I decided to chop off my hair. I ended up cutting off 11 inches and donating it to Locks of Love I totally love it and have no regrets!

2010 Goals

Every year I always make the goal to lose weight, but this year I thought I would go a little further and make more goals that have to do not only with weight, but spirituality and fun! Here is my list of 8 goals:

1. Read the Ensign every month.
2. Read the Sunday school and gospel principles book each week in preparation for Sunday lessons.
3. Exercise 5 times a week, 30 minutes a day.
4. Track calories every day until target weight is reached, approximately 3 months.
5. Have FHE every Monday.
6. Have family prayer every day.
7. Attend the temple once a month.
8. Go on a date night every other week.

I just made this list a few days ago so I may not succeed with everything this month but I am going to try and evaluate at the end of the month and see if I am keeping my goals. This is the year for me to succeed!

Friday Morning Weigh-in

I have decided to go back to Friday morning weigh-ins. This morning's weigh-in was 145.4 which is great! I have been really dedicated to tracking calories and exercising pretty hard for 30 min's a day and so far I feel really good about my progress. Right now I feel like I can keep the momentum going for a long time and so I'm going to keep thinking that way!

Accountability

So, for some reason I am having a really hard time losing the holiday weight. It seems as if I have one bad day I basically start over! As most of you who follow my blog know, I went on that crazy yeast free diet back in August and September and lost 16 pounds and got down to 136, I loved it! Then after the diet I quickly put on weight and settled around 141-143 which was great still. I stayed that way until the holidays when I topped out at 148.8. Now I know gaining 5 pounds during the holidays is standard but it still made me bummed. However, I guess not bummed enough to really hold back on eating yummy treats!

Because I'm having such a hard time losing weight (maybe because I turned 30, lol) I need to be accountable on my blog again. My sister-in-law and I started a weight loss goal program on our blogs last year and lucky her, she now weighs 130 and I'm jealous! We used to weigh about the same, around 147 I believe and she has done so well!

I am feeling really determined still and I know I am going to succeed too! I just need to eat right and exercise every day and if I have a bad day, don't let it be too bad of a day! It's not just enough to eat right, I have to exercise too! Exercising has been hard because I've felt ill with colds at least half the month of January and then I hurt my back for 5 days and on Sunday I twisted my ankle but luckily, it is almost back to normal.

Well, here I go again. I weighed in this morning at 146.6 and I want to get below 135. I want to weigh below 135 before my trip in May. Now that is attainable and I will make it!!

Tim's Car Obsession

Timmy loves cars. He loves to play with them, and he loves to line them up. Justin found him lining cars up one day and took a picture. Then Allie had to jump in! I just love these pictures and I love when I find lined up cars, it makes me smile :)

Happy New Years Eve?

I have a story to share, so sit back and enjoy the craziness! The day before New Year's Eve my sister Liz offered me some free tickets to see the Nutcracker Ballet matinee at 2 PM in downtown SLC on New Year's Eve. Since Timmy really likes dancing I decided to go take him and he was really excited to go. The tickets were to be in will call under my name.

We left around 12:15 and I realized shortly after getting on the freeway that I had no cell phone, oh well, no biggie right? Wrong! I got downtown and we parked about 1.5 blocks away from the the theater and since the clock in Justin's car doesn't work I figured it was about 1 PM. Timmy was asleep so I carried him most of the way to the theater before he woke up and we went to will call to get my tickets. I told them my name, no tickets. I realized I had no phone to call my sister so after some prodding, I finally got a girl to exchange my twenty for some smaller bills and 4 quarters. I went to the pay phone and called my sister who didn't answer. I knew I could only make one more call so decided to see if I could find a free phone at a hotel nearby. I went to the hotel Monaco across and down a bit and they did have a phone they let me use while giving me the stink eye. I called Liz again, no answer. I tried calling Justin but our home number and his cell are long distance. I tried using my calling card to call Justin but it was canceled, what???? (I have had this calling card for about 12 years!!) Then I tried calling my mom who was on her lunch break and she didn't answer her phone, sheesh!

Well, I figured I couldn't use the phone anymore since they were irritated with me so I decided to try and find another phone. We trekked over to Shilo Inn, no phone. We walked over to the Hilton and they had phones but they just went to the hotel operator. They told me where some pay phones were so I walked over to them. I realized they had a credit card option so I tried it and it wouldn't work. Finally, I put in my last two quarters and dialed Liz and she answered! She told me the tickets were under my name, Janelle Griggs. Silly girl, I have been married for 6 years!

Anyway, we ran back to the ballet which was really crowded now and got in line at will call. They found my tickets and we went in. They told me to get in a long line to get a seat cushion for Tim but the lady who butt in front of me got the last one. We found our seats, 4th row back and to the left so not bad! Tim ended up sitting on my lap through most of the show and we really enjoyed it. It was the nutty nutcracker so they had lots of funny things but that I won't get into that today.

After the show we walked/ran back to the car and it was really cold! We get to the car and realize my key is not anywhere! Timmy starts crying because I won't let him in the car and he's so cold. We made it back to the theater and luckily they have had my key turned in. Timmy has to go to the bathroom (I could just tell) so we went into the bathroom. He refused to go and was screaming, lucky me! I finally told him he could go in his pullup and he does and we finally leave. We make it to the car to find that the passenger side door won't open with the key. Frustrated I go to the driver side and it finally opens and we get in and drive away from the craziest afternoon I have had in a long long long time!!!

By the way, the rest of the evening was just fine with pizza at my in-laws, Band Hero and fun hanging out with my family :)
